Nicholas Bradford, 92, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at his home. Nicholas was born October 14, 1922 in Morristown, NJ, son of the late Edith and Nicholas Bradford. After attending Morristown High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country in World War II, and was part of the Normandy Invasion. His career spanned over 30 years with AT&T as a telephone technician, retiring in 1981 and relocating to Ft. Pierce, FL. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for over 30 years, coming from there. A past member of the Italian American Club and the Elks Lodge, he was an avid bowler and tennis player playing at Timber Ridge Tennis Ranch. Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Florence Bradford; son, Ron (Mary) Bradford of Leicester, NC; daughter, Linda (James) Halsey of Baskinridge, NJ; grandchildren, Jimmy and Donald Halsey and Gabriel and Justin Bradford; great grandchildren, Sawyer, Rye and Audrey Bradford; sister, Betty Napp of Detroit, MI. Virginia Scott Gregory Clark, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 12thin Vero Beach, Florida surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Richard Herbert Gregory and Adelaide Louise Nelson, Virginia, or Ginger as she was known by family and friends, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 21, 1931. Ginger was a proud member of the First Families of Virginia and the Daughters of the American Revolution having determined through genealogical research that her family first arrived in the Colonies in 1609. She was a long standing Parishioner at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Ellicott City, Maryland as well as the St. Augustine Episcopal Church of Vero Beach, Florida. In October 1955 Ginger married Joseph Hopkins Clark and they began their life together in Howard County, Maryland where Joe’s family first established roots in 1772. Joe and Ginger became permanent residents of Vero Beach in 1997. Ginger was fully engaged in the life of her community and children. She was active in the Forest Hills Swim and Tennis Club, Howard County PTA, Garden Gate Garden Club and many other activities before launching a successful career in real estate. She was a devoted wife of over 55 years to Joe; mother to her son Drew and his wife Gail of Howard County, and to her daughter, Scottie Campbell and her husband Lewis of Vero Beach; as well as a wonderful grandmother to Drew and Gail’s children, Joseph, Olivia and Robert. Ginger was passionate about learning and expanding her horizons having traveled extensively with Joe. Along their journey together, she became an expert gardener, photographer and culinary aficionado having formed two gourmet dinner groups with several of their best friends. Ginger was very outgoing, had a smile that would light up the room when she entered, and was loved by all who truly knew her. She was predeceased by her husband and brothers Charles, Dulany, Herbert and Richard. A viewing will be held on Friday April 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City. The funeral service and burial will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 9120 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, on Saturday, April 18th at 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon at Dimitri’s International Grille in Catonsville. David Andrew Bechard 41, a resident of Sebastian, FL. Passed April 14th, 2015 surrounded by his family at Sebastian River Hospital after a prolonged illness. David was born on January 23, 1974 in Plattsburgh, NY. He is survived by his parents Elizabeth & Marius Bechard, his wife Angelique Bechard, his children Phillip Bechard(21), Wyatt Bechard(19), Emily Bechard(16), Joshua Bechard(9), and Eve Bechard(2), sister Debbie Bechard and husband Marcel, brother Daniel and wife Mary, sister Tammy Kelsey and brother-in-law Gene, sister-in-law Sarah Garrett, sister-in-law Lorie Bechard, numerous cousins, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death, by his brother Darren Bechard. He was a loving, down to earth, family man. His occupation was an electrician. He loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, poker, and spending time with his family and friends. The service will be held in Fellsmere at Fellsmere First Baptist Church at 2pm on April 18th, 2015with a reception following afterwards. All family and friends are invited to attend. Lawrence Silvernail, 88 left this life after a battle with Alzheimer’s on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. He was the son of Lewis and Elsie Gates Silvernail, Nephew of Lloyd Kipp Silvernail. Larry leaves his son Lloyd from CT and his daughter Patricia Olivieri from FL and her partner Don Elliott. His wife Phebe, is already an angel and is awaiting his arrival along with his beloved dog, Gigi and cat, Gonzo. Larry was a graduate of Hamden High School, class of 1945. Larry was a WWII Vet stationed in the Philippines and Guam, for the Army Air Corp. He worked at Pratt & Whitney in CT in the Tool & Dye Department for 35 years. After retiring in 1982, he and his wife moved to the Treasure Coast. Larry loved to play golf and he achieved four hole in ones. The family would go each year to Ogunquit, Maine where they had property. Both Larry and his wife lived in Village Green in Vero for over 20 years and was very active in the community – he made the hash for the Sunday Breakfasts. James Goodwin Bowden III of Vero Beach, Florida and Capitol Island, Maine, formerly of Weston, Massachusetts, passed away April 19,, 2015, after a long battle with cancer and dementia. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 24, 1933 to James Goodwin Bowden II and Mildred Smith Bowden. Jim attended the Bancroft School, graduated from Deerfield Academy and Middlebury College. He attended Babson Graduate School and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant. Jim was a lifelong summer resident of Capitol Island, in the Boothbay Harbor Region, and with his loving wife, Mary, spent summers on the water pursuing his passion for sailing and celebrating life with family and dear friends. He always had a special twinkle and wink for those he loved, often referred to by friends as “Gentleman Jim.” Jim was a business executive beginning his career at Dewey and Almy, a division of W.R. Grace and Co, in research and development. He purchased a small business, Miller and Seddon Co, which he owned and operated for over a decade. Jim joined Rule Industries in Gloucester, Massachusetts before retiring to Stuart, Florida where he finished his career in real estate. He was a former Commodore of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in Boothbay Harbor, ME and Circle Bay Yacht and Sailing Club in Stuart, FL. Jim cared deeply about youth programs including sailing programs at BHYC and Little League Baseball in Weston, MA where he coached. Often Jim captured his family, friends, and pets with photography. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Brown Bowden, his daughter, Kimberly Bowden Peckham, and his son, James Goodwin Bowden IV with Joy Browning (a daughter-in-law to him), seven grandsons Robin Alexander and Will Shallcross Peckham, James (J.B.), Tyler Harper, Chadwick Shallcross, Trey Michael and Chase Haley Bowden, four great-grandchildren, Lilli, Julia, Mason, and Weston. Jim is also survived by his brother Robert Lane Bowden, of Capitol Island, Maine and his wife Eleanor Davies Bowden, and six nieces and nephews: Bobby, Jonny, Molly, Diane, Rusty and Tracey. Elaine Workman Butler, 92 of Vero Beach, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at VNA Hospice House. She was born on April 28, 1922 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late William and Alice Workman. A graduate of Barry University in Miami, FL with a BA, she went on to teach third grade for 20 years in the public school system in Miami Dade County until her retirement. In 1979, she relocated to Vero Beach and became a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors include her sons, Thomas (Rosemary) Lund of Vero Beach, FL and Roger (Rosemarie) Lund of Miami, FL; grandchildren Thomas Lund II of Vero Beach, Carrie (Bruce) Gammell of Vero Beach and Victoria (Dave McLaughlin) Lund of Vero Beach; great granddaughter, Julianna Gammell. She was a past member of the Vero Beach Garden Club. She enjoyed vacationing in the North Carolina mountains on Cattail Creek. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hogan.
